Do I also pay a deposit?
Yes, after accepting the chartered vessel, the deposit must be paid. The owner/charter company has insured the yacht, but there is an excess. This excess is equal to the deposit amount you pay — which is the maximum amount you can lose. For minor damages below the excess, the damage amount will be deducted from your deposit.
How to pay
The deposit is usually paid by credit card (Visa or Mastercard), but cash is sometimes accepted as well. American Express is often not accepted in Europe. Make sure your credit card has sufficient funds available for the deposit, as you will not be able to take the yacht without paying it.
